Yoga is a form of prayer for certain cultures. It is also a form of mediation. Yoga in Hindu mythology is considered as means to be one with the god Shiva. Hence it is necessary to be appropriately dressed while performing this practice. Apart from this yoga also require various kinds of postures where you don’t want be uncomfortable. Some postures require excessive stretching as well bending. In such case it becomes very vital to wear clothes you can feel comfortable in.

Yogasanas also requires lot of breathing exercises. If you are dressed in clothes which stick to your body, it becomes difficult to breathe in and out. So you should be dressed in clothes which are airy and keeps your breathing normal. Women should wear loose pants and tees. You should wear track pants as it soaks your sweat. In some asanas you tend to sweat a lot. You should wear a loose tee as it keeps you comfortable and is airy and doesn’t hamper your concentration. It also applies to the male population. Loose clothes not only absorb the sweat but also allow you to concentrate. Males can wear shorts instead of pants. They are also very comfortable.

You should never wear shoes or chappals while performing yoga as yoga is considered as a form of prayer. However wearing socks is favorable. However it will restrict your movements so it is better to perform it bare feet. It is very necessary that you feel positive about the clothes you are wearing because if you have any negativity about it you will not be able to concentrate on your meditation and you will be thinking about your look while meditating.

Women and men should not wear any jewelry while doing yoga. Generally it is believed that any kind of metal reacts with you body while mediating. Also it is very uncomfortable to perform certain postures with jewelry like rings, earrings. Necklaces, bracelets, watches or anklets. Yoga sometimes teaches us discipline which is essential to live a healthy life. Firstly you must relax your muscles; you must focus upon each muscle, from the head to the fingers, then to the toes. Relax everything even your facial muscles, as muscles keep tension and stressful thoughts. When you relax them, you release tensions. If it is difficult for you to imagine all the muscles, take first an anatomy book, with colorful images and study them so that you can imagine them during a yoga session.

At the beginning it might take you half an hour or more, but after you get used to it, it won’t be a problem for you.

Any yoga session begins with breathing exercises, with deep breathing. This is an efficient way to become calm, relaxed, and focused and to keep the connection between your mind and your body.
